What The Internet Wants You To See

           It can be common to say that the Internet displays what we want to see. It can be even  possible that sometimes we even see what we want to see.......and its because we are. Websites like Facebook and even Google display things similar to our recent searches or interests on Facebook. For example if on Facebook you have it down that you are a republican, if you google "war in Iraq "you might a more left wing answer than a democratic answer.
          I believe that this is almost wrong. I feel as if we are being spyed on in a way. Just because I googled nike sneakers one day, doesnt mean I should have advertisments for nike on my yahoo or twitter page. I think this tactics should stop. Unfortunatley this is the world we now live in.

How Obama Really Did It

              Barack Obama, the president of the United States, is a widely popular man. As he should be, he is the first African American to ever be president of the United States. He is however even more popular among the younger generation and when he was running, most of his votes came from the younger voters. Why is he so popular among the younger voters you may ask? He did something his Republican counterpart wasn't able to do succesfully. That being social networking sites  and the internet to gain attention and potential voters. Barack Oboma even had his site that was known as MyBo. Barack Obama knew how to gain the attention of the young.

               John McCain was very unsuccessful at this being that age group of his potential voters were much older and less likely to be on social networking sites. The site obviously not only made Obama more popular, but also brought in more revenue and advertising for his campaign. The viral Internet offered myriad ways to propagate unfiltered Obama messages. Famous rapper Will.iam. even made a music video to Obama's "yes we can" speech. This is how Obama got the votes he did.

Frontline-Growing Up Online

          The new age of computers and the internet can have its perks, but it is also harming the kids and teenagers growing up with it. It has become a place for teenagers to express themselves outside the reach of their parents. This can be dangerous in so many ways. Posting risky videos and pictures and opinions can hurt the chances of getting into colleges and finding jobs in the future. It is causing them to be too comfortable online and them taking issues not seriously. Students have video taped themselves fighting and uploaded it onto youtube which was caused by an argument on a social networking site. This just an example of how teenagers have no judgement or fear of what they do or show on the internet.
           Students and kids always find themselves in front of the computer screen. This has caused different teaching habbits in school. A school has claimed that they learn better this way becaused they are so accustomed to be on the computers. Some teachers have claimed that they feel like they have become enetertainers and a need to keep the students interest. one students claims he doesnt read and uses spark notes, which is also widely used by many students. Teachers no longer know what they should consider cheating or not. This has also caused sites to prevent plaigarism as it is much harder to figure out now.
          The internet has caused people not to socialize in person but on social networking sites instead. In an extreme case one girl had a whole different persona on the internet and would post racey pictures of herself. She enjoyed doing this cause at school she got teased and made fun of, but on the internet people would give her attention and she felt wanted. The internet can be very useful, but it can also be harmful if not used with care.
